Fees and charges listed are current in 2016 and will be subject to increase in 2017. Additional $500 mandatory fees apply for students not studying in the Manning School of Business.

Health insurance

In accordance with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Qualifying Student Health Insurance Program (QSHIP), all international students must purchase health insurance through UMass Lowell.

Navitas family bursary


The bursary is equivalent to 10% of the tuition fee for the first attempt at units in the program of study and is credited to the eligible student's tuition fee account each semester.

Conditions and Eligibility

  • Family Bursary applies where two or more students from the same family study at a Navitas institution.
  • The first family member can be studying at a Navitas institution at the same time as the other family members or may have studied at any Navitas institution previously.
  • The family bursary is granted to the second and subsequent family members who study at a Navitas institution.
  • Cannot be combined with previously received Navitas scholarship or bursary.
  • The bursary does not apply to additional units or repeat units that may also be undertaken.
  • Navitas bursary is not applicable to English language program or any component of any English language program offered by Navitas member institutions.


For the purpose of this bursary, a family member is defined as a husband, wife, brother, sister, mother, father, son, daughter or stepchild.

Application instructions

A completed application must be submitted to the Navitas institution together with supporting documents, such as birth certificate, or family card. Application form can be obtained from the Navitas institution where the student has enrolled.

Navitas at UMass Lowell International Scholars Award (US$12,000)

UMass Lowell will award any Navitas UPP student with a 3.0 GPA a scholarship amounting to $12,000 ($3,000 a year for four years) when successfully matriculating into their second year. The award is granted at the end of each year based on the student attaining the required 3.0 average GPA. Terms and conditions:

  • Student must successfully complete the Navitas program and matriculate into UMass Lowell with a 3.0 GPA;
  • Student's residency classification for tuition determination is International. In-State (Massachusetts residents), New England Regional, Out of State and Proximity students are not eligible for this scholarship. The student will not be eligible to receive this scholarship if their residency status changes for any reason;
  • The scholarship provides an annual award of $3,000;
  • Continuation of this scholarship award during their undergraduate career is dependent on maintaining full-time status (i.e., earn a minimum of 12 credits per semester) and a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 at the end of each academic year. This scholarship is renewable annually and awarded for a maximum of eight consecutive undergraduate semesters;
  • This scholarship award will be applied to their undergraduate day academic-year (i.e., consecutive fall & spring semesters) tuition and fees;
  • This scholarship does not cover Consortium or Online and Continuing Education courses. If the student participate in a Professional Co-op experience through the Office of Career Services and that co-op experience extends the duration of their academic program, the scholarship may be extended. The student must contact the Financial Aid Office before their Professional Co-op experience begins. This process also applies should the student participate in a UMass Lowell-approved study abroad program.

Academic Merit Scholarship

Navitas at UMass Lowell is committed to helping you achieve your career goals by offering scholarships to outstanding students. Each semester, Navitas at UMass Lowell awards two students with academic merit scholarships.


The scholarship award is equivalent to one academic semester’s fees (up to five academic subjects). Any additional costs, including travel or material such as books or equipment required as part of the program will be recipient's responsibility.


  • Full-time enrolled student;
  • Competencies in all courses across current program are met;
  • No outstanding fees on student’s account;
  • No previous Navitas scholarship or bursary award.


  • Students have completed his or hers first semester;
  • Students are liable to pay for any additional courses / subjects undertaken;
  • The scholarship is not transferable to other students or Navitas member institutes in any circumstances;
  • Navitas member institutions reserves the right not to award all or some of the scholarships in a given year;
  • The scholarship cannot be backdated.

Selection Criteria

Selection will be based on:

  • Academic results (GPA) from their previous semester of study. Should two students have identical academic results, the scholarship panel will refer back to marks awarded within each subjects/course to ascertain the scholarship recipient.
  • Additional factors such as educational disadvantage, member of specific equity group and/or significantly adverse personal circumstances may be taken into account where the scholarship panel must differentiate between equally qualified applicants.
  • Outcome of scheduled interview (if required)

Application instructions

Students are not required to complete a separate application for the scholarship as it is awarded based on academic performance and ALL students are eligible. Simply complete the Navitas at UML application form to be considered.
